The Rocking Chair has recently started various women’s yoga classes. In honor of Mother’s Day, they are offering a FREE yoga class Friday morning (May 8th) from 11:15am to 12:15pm. They also offer pre-natal yoga. In honor of Mother’s Day they would also be happy to create a complimentary session of pre-natal yoga this Friday May 8th for women who are expecting. Seven Englewood art and jewelry galleries are coordinating their openings in an exciting joint event. Each gallery will exhibit their artists and recent acquisitions. Meet the artists, enjoy wine, snacks and refreshments, and take advantage of gallery and dining promotions at Englewood’s diverse galleries and restaurants. On Saturday, each participating gallery will present a one hour special event. A percentage of sales on May30-31 will support the Bergen Performing Art Center, an Englewood institution. During the weekend, all 7 galleries will be collecting goods donations for the Center for Food Action of Englewood.

May 3rd marks the beginning of National Pet Health week. It is a time when we celebrate the wonderful relationships we have with our pets and talk about providing the best health care for our companions. We now also recognize the interrelationship of animal health, human health and health of the environment we all share and call this ONE HEALTH.
Examples of ONE HEALTH include the increasing incidence of Lyme disease, the emergence of diseases like West Nile disease and the rise in both childhood and pet obesity.
On Sunday May 3rd public health and safety officials, veterinarians, environmental organizations and local businesses will participate in a community wide event, the Englewood One Health Day, in Veterans Park. Information and displays about pet and human health and environmental issues will be available as well as activities for families.
